OSBA Certification Study Group

Are you considering sitting for the Spring 2015 Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) Paralegal Certification Exam? If so, please plan to join the PACO-sponsored OSBA Paralegal Certification Exam Study Group Committee for more information about the certification and an orientation for the upcoming Study Group Meetings. Guest speakers include Christopher Roudez, OSBA Section and Certification Services Coordinator, and paralegals who have earned the title of OSBA Certified Paralegal.

Orientation will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at Noon, Columbus Bar Association, Mediation Room, 175 South Third Street, Suite 1100, Columbus.

The Study Group is open to both PACO and non-PACO members. If you cannot attend and would like more information about the study group or if you would like to receive notices of study session dates and locations, please contact Vicki Babbert at, Tel: 614-462-4925.

PACO Study Group Paralegals Earn Designation

On July 25, 2014, the following paralegals who participated in the OSBA Paralegal Certification Study Group sponsored by PACO earned the designation of OSBA Certified Paralegal (left to right): Tamara Tackett of Kegler Brown Hill & Ritter, LPA, Lynn Cory of Ice Miller, LLP, Vicki Babbert of Ice Miller LLP - Study Group Coordinator, Gina Reuter and Jeanie Gatchel (not pictured) of Meyer & Kerschner, Ltd, and Gina Baker of Doucet & Associates, LLC (not pictured).

The OSBA Certified Paralegal is a voluntary certification program offered by the Ohio State Bar Association to paralegals who meet the OSBA definition of "paralegal," meet the eligibility requirements and pass a written examination.

PACO Members to Speak at OSBA Paralegal Day on May 2

Two PACO members will be guest speakers at the Paralegal Day at the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) Annual Convention to be held in Columbus on May 2, 2014 at the Hyatt Regency Columbus.

Lynn Cory, Paralegal at Ice Miller, LLP, will present with Melinda Sykes Haggerty, Director of Children's Initiatives for Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine on the topic of "Human Trafficking: Ohio's Hidden Problem."

Karen Stone, Paralegal at Slowik & Robinson, LLC, will present with Attorney Ken Robinson on the topic "Ohio's Most Vulnerable Foreign National Populations: Children, Victims and the Intersection of Human Rights."
